This is Bev.
Her mornings usually involve breakfast and a crossword.
“I have a slight addiction to doing the Yorkshire Post cryptic crossword every morning,” she admits.
Since retiring as a secondary school headteacher, she has a little more freedom over how she spends her week. Cooking, gardening and making the most of good weather with her husband are all high on her priority list.
When Bev started to notice her eyes felt dry, particularly in the morning, she didn’t want to ignore it.
Here’s Bev’s experience, in her own words.
Noticing a Change
“I was having a problem with my left eye, floating ‘bits’ and a sensation of a cloud or curtain going across.”
“It was very irritating and worrying.”
Bev had good reason to pay attention to changes in her vision.
She’s previously had problems with raised eye pressure and underwent laser treatment to help control it. In fact her pressure continues to be regularly monitored.
There’s also a family history that makes those appointments particularly important to her. Bev’s mother had glaucoma and eventually lost the sight in one eye.
So when the floaters, cloudiness and dryness appeared, Bev understandably wondered whether her eye pressure could be involved.
For a while, she even tried cutting down the amount of time she spent looking at screens.
Her sister suggested she try Performance Lab® Vision.
“The First Thing I Noticed Was in the Morning”
Bev started taking one Vision capsule each day.
“I think the first thing I noticed was in the morning when I woke up. The floaters, cloudiness and dryness were all much better.”
As her eye bothered her less, something else changed too.
She stopped thinking about it so much.
After a short time, Bev says the symptoms had gone completely and, at the time of writing, hadn’t returned.
Her experience is, of course, personal to her.
Vision is designed to support eye health and visual performance; it isn’t a treatment for floaters, dry eye, raised intraocular pressure or glaucoma.
For Bev though, the difference in everyday life is perhaps best summed up by what she told us next:
“Now I’ve really forgotten about it.”
The screens she’d been consciously avoiding stopped being something she worried about. Mornings went back to breakfast and the Yorkshire Post crossword.
Vision, With a Side of Buttered Toast

There is one part of Bev’s morning that has changed.
Vision now sits alongside her breakfast every day.
“I take the tablet at breakfast every morning with a slice of buttered toast, as the instructions mentioned taking it with fat.”
It sounds like a very small detail.
But there’s actually some interesting nutritional science behind it.
Performance Lab® Vision contains lutein, zeaxanthin and astaxanthin, three carotenoids used in the formula for their roles in eye health. Carotenoids are fat-soluble, and dietary fat can influence how efficiently they're absorbed.
Which means Bev’s buttered toast has become a rather practical part of her routine.
And routine is exactly what Vision has become.
Eye health is something Bev will continue to have professionally monitored, particularly given her history and family risk. But Vision now sits alongside that care. As one of the things she chooses to do each day to support her eyes nutritionally.
One capsule. Breakfast. And a slice of buttered toast.
Lab Notes: Why Does Bev Take Vision With Buttered Toast?
Bev picked up on a small line in the directions for Performance Lab® Vision:
Take one capsule with food containing a source of fat.
So every morning, she takes hers with a slice of buttered toast.
That instruction is there because three important nutrients in Vision—lutein, zeaxanthin and astaxanthin—are carotenoids.
Carotenoids are fat-soluble compounds. During digestion, dietary fat helps incorporate them into structures called micelles, which allow them to be transported through the watery environment of the digestive tract and made available for absorption.
And there's a reason these particular carotenoids matter when we're talking about eye health.
Lutein and zeaxanthin naturally concentrate in the macula. This is the small central part of the retina we rely on for clear, detailed vision. Together, they form macular pigment, where they help filter certain wavelengths of light and provide antioxidant protection to the tissues beneath.
Performance Lab® Vision provides 10 mg lutein and 2 mg zeaxanthin, alongside 4 mg astaxanthin, another carotenoid studied for its role in visual function and eye fatigue.
Then there’s blackcurrant and bilberry.
These are both rich in naturally occurring anthocyanins that have been studied for areas including visual function and circulation within the eye, plus saffron, which has been researched for its potential role in retinal function.

A note about customer stories
For Bev, looking after her eyes carries particular significance. Her own eye pressure is regularly monitored, and her mother's experience with glaucoma means she's very aware of the importance of eye health.
Vision doesn't replace those regular checks, nor is it intended to treat glaucoma or lower eye pressure. It's the nutritional part of Bev's approach to looking after her eyes.
