“My skin condition has completely disappeared.” Adam’s Performance Lab® Omega-3 Story

This is Adam.

At 68 years old, he considers himself pretty fit and healthy.

But around a year ago, he started noticing a persistent problem. Every now and then, the skin on his hands would become dry and flaky. Sometimes quite badly.

At first, he didn’t think too much of it. He rides motorbikes, works with oils and chemicals, and assumed it was probably some kind of irritation or contact allergy.

But then the flare-ups started happening without any obvious trigger.

That’s when he began wondering if the problem might be coming from somewhere else.

Here’s Adam’s experience, in his own words.

When the Obvious Explanation Didn’t Fit Anymore

“About a year ago, I had a slight problem where I’d occasionally get dry skin on my hands. It actually got quite bad at times.”

At first, Adam assumed it was probably something external.

“I thought it was from changing oil on the motorbike or using chemicals or whatever.”

That explanation made sense for a while. But when it kept happening, he began to wonder whether something else might be going on.

“It happened with no obvious trigger. So I suspected maybe it was something dietary.”

Adam has followed a vegan diet for around 15 years. Aside from vitamin B12, which many people following plant-based diets are already familiar with, supplements hadn’t really been much of a focus.

“The only supplement I’d normally taken was vitamin B12, because that’s the one everybody talks about with vegan diets.”

So he started researching. And one thing kept coming up.

Omega-3.

Discovering a Major Omega-3 Deficiency

Rather than guessing, Adam decided to test things properly. “Being an analyst, I decided to take a blood test.”

The results caught him off guard.

“The reference range is apparently between 8 and 12. The lowest ever recorded was a vegan in the US Army who got a 3. Well.. I got a 2.5!”

Adam laughs about it now, “So I’m a world record holder at something.”

But jokes aside, the result confirmed what he had started to suspect. Whatever was going on, this wasn’t a small deficiency.

It was in fact, quite a “major deficiency.”

And suddenly, the issue with his skin felt less random.

“I Thought Omega-3 Supplements Were All Fish Oil Based”

Once Adam started looking into Omega-3 properly, he hit another obstacle.

Like many people, he assumed Omega-3 supplements all came from fish, something he had no interest in taking.

“I thought Omega-3 supplements were all fish oil based, which being vegan, I wouldn’t want to take.”

That’s when he discovered algae-based Omega-3 supplements instead.

“I discovered there were vegan supplements.”

But even then, finding one he actually wanted to stick with wasn’t straightforward.

“I tried one or two others, but they tasted very fishy and it was unpleasant.”

Eventually, he came across Performance Lab® Omega-3.

After doing his research, one thing stood out.

“The Performance Lab one rated highest for product quality.”

Just as importantly, it solved the thing that had immediately put him off the others.

“No fishy taste. No smell.”

The Difference Came Faster Than Expected

Adam wasn’t expecting dramatic changes overnight. But after taking the supplement consistently, something shifted.

“My skin condition had cleared up after six months.”

For him, that was the first sign that something had genuinely changed.

Still, being naturally analytical, he wanted more than just a feeling that things had improved. He wanted to see what the numbers said.

“So I retested.”

The second blood test showed real progress.

“My score had doubled and moved to around six.”

Still short of the ideal range, but clearly heading in the right direction.

“I still wasn’t quite in the reference range of 8 to 12. Maybe I just have slow absorption due to my current life stage, but I’m going to carry on taking them and do another retest after another six months.”

There’s something refreshingly practical in the way Adam talks about it. No sweeping claims. Just curiosity, consistency, and paying attention to what changed.

Why He’s Continuing With Performance Lab®

For Adam, the decision to keep taking Performance Lab® Omega-3 feels fairly simple. It fits with how he lives, aligns with his values, and most importantly, he noticed a meaningful difference.

“They’re vegan, which is important to me personally.”

The skin issue that had frustrated him for months also disappeared.

“My skin condition has completely disappeared.”

And unlike the other Omega-3 supplements he tried, there’s none of the unpleasant taste or smell that made them difficult to stick with.

“There is no taste or smell of fish, which I experienced with all the other supplements I tried.”

Adam is the first to acknowledge that they cost a little more than some alternatives. But for him, the difference has justified it.

“They are a bit more expensive than other Omega-3 supplements, but for me, they’re worth it.”

Final Thoughts

Adam’s story started with something that, on the surface, seemed fairly small — dry skin on his hands.

But following that thread led him to uncover something he otherwise may never have known: a significant Omega-3 deficiency.

Now, after seeing measurable improvements in both his skin and Omega-3 levels, Performance Lab® Omega-3 has become part of his routine.

“These are the best Omega-3 supplements I’ve ever taken.

I will definitely continue taking them.”

Lab Notes: Why algae-based Omega-3 feels different

If you’re wondering why Adam specifically looked for an algae-based Omega-3 supplement, there’s a good reason.

Most traditional Omega-3 supplements are sourced from fish oil. But the EPA and DHA in fish actually originate from algae lower down the food chain.

Performance Lab® Omega-3 delivers EPA and DHA directly from algae instead.

That means:

  • no fishy aftertaste or odor
  • no marine pollutants commonly associated with fish oil
  • suitable for vegans and vegetarians
  • a more sustainable Omega-3 source overall

Each serving also provides 990 mg of Omega-3 fatty acids, including a science-backed 2:1 DHA to EPA ratio.
