The Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act, first became law in California in 1986 and is commonly known as Proposition 65 or simply Prop 65.
It sets out stringent rules for manufacturers to disclose their use of chemicals used in products or manufacturing processes that have even the slightest potential to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm so that Californians can make informed decisions about protecting themselves.
This is separate from FDA or other Federal legislation and applies specifically to California – all products manufactured or distributed in the state are subject to Prop 65. The levels involved are generally far stricter than accepted federal levels and The California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) publishes a list every year of chemicals to which Prop 65 applies, with additions or removals from the list from time-to-time. There are currently around 900 chemicals listed.
Many of these chemicals have been used in everyday products for years without documented harm. The California government has clarified that a Prop 65 warning “is not the same as a regulatory decision that a product is ‘safe’ or ‘unsafe.’”
Many of the chemicals included in the Prop 65 list are naturally occurring at low levels in a great number of food products and since 2013 naturally occurring levels of chemicals and elements in all foods – specifically including dietary supplements - are exempt from Prop 65.
As the producers of the world’s cleanest supplements Opti-Nutra takes its responsibilities for consumer safety very seriously and our use of ingredients is based on a guiding principle of ‘as much as is needed but no more than is necessary’.
Sadly many supplement companies work on the principle that ‘a little is good so a lot is better’. Outside of any regulatory overwatch we reject this and the haphazard results it may produce. We are very careful in the sourcing of all of our ingredients, with an uncompromising approach to quality and dependability. The patented production techniques of many of our key ingredients deliver standardized results and so exceed any regulatory requirements because of the properly controlled dosages and understanding of bioavailability.
Performance Lab® T+
Each 2 Nutricap serving contains 150mg of Mucuna Pruriens Extract (seed) (15% Levodopa).
The safety of Larodopa (levodopa) in women who are or who may become pregnant has not been established: hence, it should be given only when the potential benefits have been weighed against possible hazards to mother and child. Studies in rodents have shown that levodopa at dosages in excess of 200 mg/kg/day has an adverse effect on fetal and postnatal growth and viability.
Levodopa is a well known male tonic and is a key active ingredient in T+. WE believe it is self-evident that such a product should not be taken by pregnant women.
